KNITTING |
|

Beginning Knitting:
Students will learn to cast on stitches, the knit stitch, the purl stitch, increasing and decreasing, reading
pattern basics, making eyelets, the drop stitch, cable basics and binding off. One skein light-colored
Encore Yarn and size US 7, 8 or 9 knitting needles.

| Intro to Lace Knitting: | |
|
Learn the stitches and techniques for knitting lace using charts and written directions. Bring US 3 needles
and smooth yarn for practice. Will pick out needles and yarn for project during first class. Supply fee
based on yarns and patterns to make one adult scarf. |

Socks on Circular Needles: |
|
|
Knit an adult sock using 2 circular needles - it's easier than you think. Learn sock basics such as cuff or
top treatment, heel flap, turning the heel, ankle gusset, shaping the toe and Kitchener stitch. One skein
of light colored Encore and two 24" circular needles in size selected after gauge swatch knit in first class. |

|
|
The secret of cable knitting revealed! Learn to knit and read basic cable patterns charted or written.

Entrelac Hat: |
|
|
Using Entrelac knitting basics, create your very own basket-weave hat. Materials required are US 8, 16"
circular and US 8 double point needles, worsted weight yarn in 4 coordinating colors. The pattern used
for the class is YarnSmith's Basket-Weave Hat and will be available for purchase. |

Fair Isle Hat: |
|
|
Knit a hat using the Fair Isle technique (double stranding) for color patterning. Students will need US 5,
16" circular needles, a set of US 5 double points and worsted weight yarn, 50 grams in 8 colors, for the
hat. The pattern used for the class is Cabin Fever's Inka Hat and will be available for purchase. |

Intarsia: |
|
|
Intarsia is another way to knit color patterns requiring larger blocks of color. Students will knit a pillow
top using a charted pattern from Weekend Knitting. Materials required are worsted weight yarn in 3
colors and US 8 needles and 8 bobbins. |

Fabulous Felted Bag (Knitted-then-Felted): |
|
|
Create your very own designer purse by using a knitted-then-felted base and decorating it with knitted
flowers and needle felting. Materials required are worsted weight yarn and US 11 or 13 needles. Felting
supplies will be provided for class. |

|
|
Knit a miniature "Victorian Ring Purse" using pearl cotton and beads on US 0000 metal double point

WEAVING |
|
|
Beginning Weaving: |
|
|
A 6-week comprehensive course. Students will learn all the basic weaving skills: winding a warp chain,
warping a loom, reading a pattern and weaving cloth. Supply fee based on yarns needed to weave one
adult- sized Alpaca scarf and a set of 4 kitchen towels. |
|

Introduction to Weave Structures: |
|
|
This is a two-day class where each student will warp their loom with a different pattern. Each student
will then weave a sample on each loom. Marguerite Davidson's book "A Handweaver's Pattern Book"
will be available for purchase at the shop. |

A Sachet of Scarves: |
|
|
Students will bring a PREWARPED loom to class. Warp and pattern will be sent to each student who will
fully prepare, at home prior to the class, loom with warp ready to weave at start of class. Warp length will
be enough to run "round robin" samples in class, then take home to weave own scarf. Students may use
own loom (portable) or secure a loom from shop for class. If warping assistance is needed, please call
instructor or arrange for extra class time, at the shop, for warping on Friday, May 16, which will be an
added instructor fee. Supply fee based on specialty yarns in amounts for one adult-sized scarf and samples. |

|
|
Needle-Felted Dragon: |
|
|
Learn to "sculpt" with wool roving and a felting needle while creating your dragon fantasy. |

Felted Soaps: |
|
|
Felt three Soap-In-A-Sweater using handmade, organic goat milk and olive oil soap. The wool is tough
enough to scrub dirty hands, yet gentle enough for most sensitive skins. The wool fibers act as a mild
exfoliate and continue to shrink as you use the soap leaving a gentle scrubbing pad when the soap is gone. |

Tote Bag: |
|
|
Using needle felting and wet felting techniques, make a purse or tote bag approximately 15" x 15".
Students will work with wool batting, roving, locks and pencil roving. Students are encouraged
to create their own designs, or the instructor will supply several designs to choose from. Each student
should bring a bath towel. |

|
|
Make a "mini" rug, table mat or pillow top by using needle felting and wet felting techniques. Students

to create their own design, or the instructor will supply several design choices. Each student should bring
a bath towel. |

|
|
Laminate, or Nuno, felt fine fibers into a silk scarf. Students will work with wool roving. Each student

Intro to Crochet: |
|
|
This class covers the basic crochet stitches, pattern reading as well as tips and techniques. Students will be
